Meet Christina Noel Adcock Born into a dance legacy family, Ms. Noel Adcock began her training with her grandmother Jeanette Noel, who had been a prima ballerina for the Brussels Opera. A dancer of color she broke boundaries and danced professionally in Chicago, San Diego, and Denver as a soloist and then principal dancer before going on to be the dance director Arvada Center for the Arts outside of Denver, CO. She is also the ballet mistress for the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company. A long time pioneer and now leading expert in safe dance, her students have remarkably low incidents of injury and have gone on to become professional ballet and Broadway dancers. Her insight, kindness, and inspirational classes make her a favorite whenever she visits New Mexico.
Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 1:15-3pm Novice Adult: This class is for anyone with a minimum of 6 months ballet or graduates of Intro to Ballet. A focus on the foundations and beauty of ballet.
3:30-5:30pm* Intermediate/Advanced Adult: For those with multiple years of ballet experience. This class will start with an intermediate barre, but will ramp up to increasing levels of difficulty and complexity to satisfy the advanced dancers in the group. Those who cannot keep up with the advanced section will be welcome to watch when they are ready to "tap out." * If sufficiently advanced dancers show up there will be an additional set of combinations a la company class level and class will run till 5:45pm.
Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023 1:15-3pm Novice/Intermediate Adult: Starting with a novice level barre and working up to intermediate level. Once again, students can "tap out" and watch from the side when the class complexity begins to exceed their skill level at the center and across the floor.
3:30-4:30pm Men's Class: We recommend this be taken as an add-on to the previous class because barre will be limited. It is expected you will be warm and ready to work on men's vocabulary. While women and non-men may take this class, the primary attention may be focused on the men attending. We believe in fostering positive masculinity by providing men with an opportunity to grow through the practice of ballet. This class will include significant turning and jumping and several years of ballet or instructor permission is required. An excellent class for those wanting to learn to teach masculine ballet.
