Why Ballet?

Picture
Ballet, when practiced diligently and with the proper technique, can provide students with mastery of the body in a way few disciplines can. Our form of instructing ballet makes it a Pilates alternative, and its benefits include better coordination, improved balance, increased strength and flexibility, as well as better posture, core strength, and alignment. For this reason many athletes, such as football stars Evander Holyfield and Willie Gault, have studied ballet in order to fine tune their physicality. The study of ballet also provides stimulation for your brain and many people find it enriches their emotional lives. It is the ultimate whole wellness work out!

What Level Should I Be In?
Many people who have been away from ballet for a long time choose to re-enter through Intro to Ballet to acclimate themselves gently back into regular ballet class. It is a great way to start! Each person is different and after many years away from dance re-entering ballet will depend on factors such as how much muscle memory the student has retained, his or her physical fitness, and the type of prior training. For those with prior experiences, the best way to see where you belong is to come in for a lower intermediate class and allow us to asses where you are at so we can make recommendations as to which classes would best suit your needs and goals.
